Mānuka (Leptospermum scoparium), or teatree, is used in rongoā for colds, stomach pain, cleaning cuts, and relieving pain in muscles and joints.
The leaves are boiled in a pot of water and used to cleanse wounds, while nectar from the flowers helps prevent infection.
Mānuka has anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties.
It is a very special tree to us, as it has so many uses.
