All inter‑hospital ambulance transfers arranged by hospital staff are covered by Health New Zealand – Northland.
Patients who require ambulance services for other medical conditions will be charged by Hato Hone. Charges also apply to patients requiring ambulance transport to return home following discharge.
To avoid Hato Hone charges for emergency care, an annual subscription to Hato Hone can be purchased.
